My son has been collecting tools to start working on cars in the garage and has a few air tools. We were thinking about giving him a compressor for Christmas, but I don’t want to rewire the garage for 220. Any suggestions?
Te wife is giving me a 0.00 spending limit….and the boy wants a 30 gal….says the air would run out too fast.

I have a small home shop and i am in the market for a new air compressor, however i know very little about them. I am on my second upright portable air compressor and i have decided to replace it with a much larger unit. I know i want a vertical unit but other than that i am at a loss. There are single stage, two stage units, peak horsepower, running horse power, cfm, and psi ratings and i don’t know what i should get. I don’t use air tools alot but, when i do i use alot of them. I have a mill and a lathe and i am wanting to add a power drawbar to the mill and an air powered collet system to the lathe. I also have a 90 pound sandblaster. I think i would prefer a belt drive unit as i currently have a direct drive model and it is quite loud. Any advice would be appreciated.

My husband, a seasoned mechanic, wants an air compressor for Christmas. I’m a desk jockey, I have no idea what to look for or what would be a good air compressor. I’m looking for a more specific answer.
He is an industrial manufacturing equipment mechanic, but the air compressor would be for home. To work on my car and his truck, and to do home repairs and of course to tinker. He has all of these air tools but he can’t use them. HELP!!

I’ve just inherited an old air compressor from a friend of the family who passed away last year. He used to use it for spray painting but I would like to know if it’s powerful enough to use air tools with it. It’s pretty big but there’s no horse power or flow rate stamped on the side of it.
Is there any device I can use to work out the flow rate or horse power of it?
The manufacturer of the compressor tried to help but couldn’t provide any information…

Hi i have a old Fliteway air compressor tank rated at 150 psi and have a bunch of 1/2 – 3 hp electric motors laying around my junk pile and i was thinking i could just buy a compressor pump or take one off of a car to get air in this thing.
What size pump should i buy for a 8 gallon 150psi tank?
Iv seen one at harbor freight for 150$ double piston model with no brand rated at 145psi 1000rpm 3hp, don’t know if it would work it looks a little much for what i want to do with it unless i get a bigger tank or more tanks like propane.

I work on my truck and small engines lawn mowers etc in my spare time and I’ve always wanted to have some air tools to help me save time. I’ve been shopping around for a compressor that is portable but still has power to run some tools I’ll be using. I found this compressor online from harbor freight and some tools to use with it. Can anyone tell if I can trust this compressor to run the selected tools. According to the specs I should be able to run these tools with the selected compressor but I wanted to be sure since I am a newbie to air tools. I do not plan on running an impact wrench for more than 10 secs at a time, I just wanted it to help me break loose stubborn nuts and bolts.
here is the compressor and tools I’m looking at:
compressor:

ratchet:

impact gun:

ps. I understand the risks buying certain of china made tools
