I have a 2005 Maxima SE and the A/C is blowing hot air. I have recharged it twice and it’s not holding a charge. I took it to the shop and they found a leak in the low side hose, and I had them replace it. They recharged it again and blew slightly cool air (not cold air like it used to) for a few days before it went back to blowing hot air, and the guy at the shop told me that the compressor was on its way out. He also told me that if you replace the compressor you need to replace the expansion valves and dryer as well.

I spoke to another mechanic who said as long as the compressor isn’t locked up then there isn’t a need to replace the other two parts.

Whose advice should I take, and is replacing the compressor something that I could do myself?

My Air compressor tank is all rusted out and leaks pretty bad, but the compressor it’s self is fine. I’ve been trying to find a new tank for it, but I can’t find ANYWHERE that sells just the air tank. Every only sells the tank and compressor combo. I just need a tank! Where could I get one? I need a 60 gallon or bigger. No, I don’t want to use an oil tank. I want an air tank. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
I don’t know why I posted this in home and garden. Sorry.

Hi, I have a 2001 Mustang GT. When turning the engine off, I heard a distinct whooshing noise coming from the air intake system for the first time today. It sounds like air being released, like a blast of air from an air compressor and lasts for a couple seconds after the engine is turned off. It didn’t do it before today, but has been doing it every time since the first occurrence. Any ideas on what it might be? Anything to be worried about? Thanks.

It looks like water was spitting out of the line as well as the urethane clear coat and you can see water bumps on the bumper. Will this evaporate as the urethane dries or do I need to sand it down and use a better compressor setup?
I followed the msds sheet and added 4 parts clear and 1 part hardener. I have an old air compressor that until recently never shot out any water. The hvlp gun was last used to spray oil based paint and was cleaned with mineral spirits.

The compressor doesn’t work outside, but there is hot air blowing inside. What would the cost be for replacing the air compressor? Would the entire unit have to be replaced?

Why won't my Craftsman air compressor fill up?

I have a 3 HP 15 Gallon Craftsman Air Compressor that I bought used. It is electric and supposedly "oil-free". When I plug it in and switch it on everything appears to work normally however the regulated side of the compressor will only go up to about 23-25 PSI and the tank guage will only go up to about 20-22 PSI. I have checked the drain valve and other areas where connections are made and can’t find any leaks from the tank or regulator. Furthermore the motor never cuts off – it will run forever if I let it. I even let it run for 15-20 minutes straight and once the guages got up to the above readings, they stopped and the motor kept running. Is the compressor or other part of the motor just shot or am I overlooking something here?

Compressor was replaced 2-3 years ago
Inside coils replaced 1-2 years ago
In all the years I’ve had the unit (since 1998), it has never cooled the house. House has double pane windows and 8 inches rockwool and 4 inches corning (pink rolls) on top.

Now it’s "in the toilet". pipes outside were warm and dry. Temp outside was 98F and inside 85F and air in vent 78F. Next day, pipes outside are 1 1/2 inches of ice. Air still flowing across inside coils. Temp exactly the same. hvac guy comes out and charges with freon. Waited 3 hours. Temp outside 98F, inside 92F, air in vent 77F after running ac 2 hours. Pipes outside (big one) barely cool to touch, small line feel like "air temp".

In early spring, inside coils would ice over about once a week. Air would not flow over coils. Shut it off an hour then turn it on, works. Even then, outside 90, inside 80, in vent 75.

Help
This is in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – yeah humidity is a mother. It is a moderate 3 bedroom house.

The A/C guy put in 5 lbs of freon – just found out how much. Seems a lot. At this point i’m suspecting 2 problems: leak and puny 2 ton. For some reason, I thought it was 3 ton. A/C guy going to try to come back Saturday $$$$$.

Right now (10:45 PM), outside 88F, inside 87F, vent 74F.

Air Compressor Help?

Hey Guys!
I’m looking to buy an air compressor strictly for cleaning my R/C car……
I don’t have a garage even (I know I know)…….

I was looking at sears.com….They all seem huge and way bigger than what I need…..Cans of compressed air work fine BUT they get used up so fast!!!!

Thanks for any suggestions!

How easy is it to winterize my irrigation system?

I have a backflow preventer with a faucet inside the house, and a shut off valve and faucet outside the house. Do I just drain the system from the inside faucet, or do I need an air compressor as well?
I can’t access any of the underground boxes (is that where the pumps are) unless I dig them out of the ground. How do I get access to the pump without ruining my lawn?
